June 2nd. Kyoto my Love

As you know today we head to Kyoto from Tokyo. A normal trip. Taxi to train station. Order Japanese scrambled eggs. Go back and get pound cake. Down to tracks, get on train. Get off train. Wrong train. Get back on correct train and settle in for. 2 1/2 hour ride on a nice train. Only problem was that My Fuji was not visible today. Cloudy and overcast. Well not the only thing. Towards the end of the trip, the luggage police were seen going up and down the isle with Patricia’s and Mary Ann’s suitcase. Seems Shincansen trains have a size limit and where you can put oversized luggage. Well not where they had. So where did they end up?

Yes between us since luckily we had no-one
in the third seat. Same for Patricia.

Luggage Police in the distance after having nabbed two more criminals.
And now for something lighter. Some shots of the Japan countryside from the train.

We arrive in Kyoto without incident and store our bags in lockers since we could not get into our new place for 3 hours. But there is always something to see in Kyoto. We chose the Buddhist temple with the 5 story pagoda Toji Temple. It did not disappoint except that photos of the cool Buddhist statuary there was forbidden. But not the pagoda.
But first a cool stone lantern.

There was also a flea market going on to support the temple. I am not a fan so Mary Ann and I sat at the main temple while Jonah and Patricia shopped the flea market. That is till we received a call that the tea sets Mary Ann was looking for were there. So off we go as many of the flea market/ junk dealers were folding their tents. Turns out they were not of Mary Ann’s liking so it was a wasted trip. But on the way out we see a man selling scrolls and other items. Some were nice, some were not. But Instill managed to get 3 nice scrolls for about $18.00.  But wait there is more. Across from him was a family selling old silk. Some the type men wear. So of course I had to buy 2. Lets just say it was like he was giving them away.
And then the rains came and did not go away. And of course we had stashed all our umbrellas in the aforementioned lockers. Trapped.

Till it let up about 40 minutes later. But inside was a wonderful fabric artwork with Japan prints on them. And back to the station but first eat and everyone agreed the food in the train station was really good.

Then get our bags and onto our home for 2
Nights. A bit more close than anyone would expect but just two nights. And nice neighborhood.

And that my friends is goodnight.
